Denver and Cincinnati both push to 13-0, Green Bay routs San Francisco in the Game of the Week, and a Jaguars running back breaks two all-time records in the same afternoon.

Denver ran past Houston 52-22 and Cincinnati held off New York 28-23, and the league's two unbeaten teams are both 13-0 with four weeks left. Green Bay delivered the week's most emphatic result in the Game of the Week, blowing out San Francisco 38-14 behind Trevor Etienne's second four-touchdown game in as many weeks. And in Jacksonville, Devin Rolle caught fifteen passes for 339 yards and seven touchdowns — both new all-time single-game records — as the Jaguars outlasted Indianapolis 56-42.

★ Game of the Week — Packers 38, 49ers 14

Trevor Etienne ran for 167 yards and four touchdowns, his second straight four-touchdown outing, as Green Bay never let San Francisco into the game. Jayden Daniels was efficient managing the offense around him, and the Packers converted the 49ers' turnovers into points all afternoon.

De'Von Achane ran for 128 yards and two touchdowns for San Francisco, an 84-yard burst included, but Nick Bosa's 2.5 sacks and a Green Bay defense that never let the 49ers' offense find any consistency made the difference. Green Bay improves to 12-1. San Francisco falls to 9-4.

Around the League

Texans 22, Broncos 52

Jahmyr Gibbs ran for 191 yards and two touchdowns, a 53-yard burst included, and Warren Davis threw for 142 yards and three touchdowns without an interception, as Denver stayed perfect. Quintin Warner threw for 259 yards and three touchdowns for Houston, and Ben Sinnott caught five passes for 97 yards and a score, but it wasn't nearly enough to keep pace. The Broncos are 13-0. Houston falls to 8-5.

Bills 14, Seahawks 7

Bo Nix threw for 153 yards without a touchdown and three interceptions for Seattle, and Louis Geyer caught eight passes for 94 yards, but the Seahawks' defense couldn't turn its four takeaways into enough points to matter. Buffalo improves to 5-8. Seattle falls to 1-12.

Falcons 27, Buccaneers 21

Saquon Barkley ran for 80 yards and a touchdown and Jalen Hurts threw for 98 yards and two more scores, and Atlanta's defense did the rest. Justin Herbert threw for 176 yards and two touchdowns for Tampa Bay, the better raw numbers on the day, but it wasn't enough to escape with the win. Atlanta improves to 5-8. Tampa Bay falls to 7-6.

Cardinals 20, Raiders 10

Brock Purdy threw for 254 yards without a touchdown, DeVaunte Whitley ran for two short touchdowns, and Rod Gosener caught eight passes for 115 yards, as Arizona's offense did enough even without much of a passing score to show for it. Las Vegas's defense couldn't complete the upset bid. Arizona improves to 9-4. Las Vegas falls to 2-11.

Cowboys 3, Commanders 27

Anthony Richardson Sr accounted for three touchdowns — two passing, one rushing — going 18-of-29 for 139 yards and 50 rushing yards on top of it, as Washington's defense turned Dallas's offense away all afternoon. The Cowboys managed just three points. Washington improves to 11-2. Dallas falls to 5-8.

Panthers 21, Chargers 31

Joe Burrow threw for 245 yards and three touchdowns, and A.J. Brown caught two of them, but it wasn't enough to overcome Los Angeles. Alec Westbrook ran for two touchdowns for the Chargers, and three Carolina giveaways were too costly to overcome. Los Angeles improves to 9-4. Carolina falls to 5-8.

Steelers 28, Browns 10

Josh Jacobs ran for 113 yards and four touchdowns as Pittsburgh handed Cleveland a lopsided loss. Shedeur Sanders threw for 221 yards for the Browns, and Emmett Bennett threw for 211 yards without a turnover on the other sideline, but neither offense could find the end zone against Pittsburgh's defense. Pittsburgh improves to 3-10. Cleveland falls to 2-11.

Vikings 21, Patriots 7

Jordan Love threw for 232 yards and a touchdown, and Minnesota's defense delivered the real story — see this issue's cover. Pete Werner intercepted two passes and Jaelan Phillips added a sack and a half, holding a New England offense that had put up 68 points just last issue to seven. Minnesota improves to 4-9. New England falls to 6-7.

Ravens 19, Dolphins 22

J.J. McCarthy threw for 226 yards and a touchdown, and Evan McPherson made all four of his field goals, a 53-yarder included, but Baltimore came up three points short. Miami improves to 9-4. Baltimore falls to 2-11.

Bengals 28, Giants 23

Nicholas Battle threw for 276 yards and four touchdowns without an interception, and Khalil Shakir caught two of them among his 135 yards, as Cincinnati stayed perfect. Patrick Mahomes threw for 270 yards and a touchdown for New York, but a costly interception was too much to overcome. The Bengals are 13-0. New York falls to 6-7.

Bears 28, Titans 22

Lorenzo Whitworth threw for 247 yards and two touchdowns, and Nathan Sharp caught two of them, as Chicago held off Tennessee. Dak Prescott threw for 289 yards and three touchdowns for the Titans, and Marvin Daniels caught two touchdown passes of his own, but two Prescott interceptions swung the game. Chicago improves to 7-5-1. Tennessee falls to 6-7.

Rams 35, Saints 28

Trevor Lawrence threw for 262 yards and three touchdowns, and Romeo Doubs caught one of them among his 99 yards, as Los Angeles pulled off the road upset. Lamar Jackson threw for 310 yards and three touchdowns for New Orleans, and both Dyami Brown and Rashee Rice caught touchdown passes of their own, but it wasn't enough to hold on at home. Los Angeles improves to 5-7-1. New Orleans falls to 9-4.

Jaguars 56, Colts 42

See this issue's Feature Story for the full account of the record-breaking afternoon. Jacksonville improves to 5-8. Indianapolis falls to 1-12.

Javon Bullard
SS, Jaguars
2 INT. A defensive complement to the biggest offensive day of the season.
Evan McPherson
K, Ravens
4/4 FG, long 53 yds. A perfect day in a three-point loss.
  • Denver and Cincinnati are both 13-0. Four weeks left, and neither has lost yet.
  • Green Bay is 12-1 after routing San Francisco by 24 points in the Game of the Week — the clearest gap between two good teams the Chronicle has logged all season.
  • Devin Rolle broke two all-time single-game records in the same afternoon: 339 receiving yards and 7 receiving touchdowns. See Record Book Watch below.
  • Bryce Young's 7 touchdown passes are one shy of the all-time record of 8, in the same game Rolle set his marks.
  • Jacksonville and Indianapolis combined for 98 points, the highest total of any game this week.

Milestone Watch

  • Jahmyr Gibbs, HB, Broncos. 2,274 rushing yards through 13 games — a 174.9-yard-per-game pace. He needs 650 more yards over the final four weeks, about 163 per game, to break Bijan Robinson's single-season record of 2,924 — still comfortably below his current pace.

Record Book Watch

Devin Rolle didn't just have a good day Sunday — he broke two all-time records in the same game. His 339 receiving yards top the single-game record of 291, set by Dennis Loftus earlier this season. His seven receiving touchdowns top the record of 5, shared by Travis Etienne Jr. and Mark Andrews. Both are the new standard now. Bryce Young's 7 passing touchdowns in the same game fall one short of the all-time record of 8.

Feature Story: Two Records, One Afternoon

Devin Rolle caught fifteen passes for 339 yards and seven touchdowns Sunday. Both numbers are new all-time single-game records — the receiving-yards mark by 48 yards, the receiving-touchdowns mark by two — set in a 56-42 win over Indianapolis that saw both offenses find the end zone almost every time they had the ball.

Bryce Young made sure it wasn't a one-man show. He threw for 356 yards and seven touchdowns of his own, one shy of the all-time single-game passing-touchdown record, completing 19 of 24 attempts. Between them, Young and Rolle accounted for every one of Jacksonville's touchdowns through the air. Indianapolis never had an answer: Hayden Andrews threw for 210 yards but was intercepted five times, and the Colts' defense spent the afternoon chasing a Jaguars offense that simply would not stop scoring.

Records like these don't come along often — the receiving-yards mark had stood since Week 5 of this very season, the touchdowns record since Week 7. Both fell in the same game, to the same player, on a day when his own quarterback nearly broke a third. Jacksonville is 5-8 tonight, a record that undersells what just happened in that building.

Press Row & Transaction Wire

Press Row

No letters reached the desk this week. Press Row stays open — a word about your own team, a shot across the division, a prediction you'll put your name to. It runs in Issue 15.

Transaction Wire & Injury Report

Nothing crossed the trade wire this week. One new name joined the injury report: Sam LaPorta, TE, Packers, now on IR. Will McDonald IV, LEDGE, Dolphins, Zach Sieler, DT, Dolphins, Bobby Brown III, DT, Dolphins, John Campa, TE, Vikings and Cam Beasley, FS, Patriots remain out with no change in status.

Rookie Watch

The two perfect rookie quarterbacks keep rolling, and one of them just had his best game of the season.

Warren Davis
QB, Broncos
6/8, 142 yds, 3 TD. Still 13-0 as a starter.
Nicholas Battle
QB, Bengals
13/17, 276 yds, 4 TD. His best statistical day of the season. Still 13-0 as a starter.

Offensive Rookie of the Year lean: Davis and Battle are a combined 26-0 as starters, still the clearest story in the league at any position.

Defensive Rookie of the Year lean: still wide open. No rookie had a signature defensive week.

Fan Mailbag

No letters reached the desk this week, so the Chronicle wrote the questions it's confident somebody in this league is asking. The real mailbag is open and runs with your name on it.

From a reader still processing the box score: "Is Devin Rolle actually the best receiver in the league now, or was this just one huge game?"
Jenna: One huge game is exactly what it was — and that's not a knock. Records are made of exactly those afternoons. Rolle wasn't a name the Chronicle had featured before Sunday, and the honest answer is the sample size on him is thin. What's not in question is that this specific game, on this specific Sunday, is now the best single-game receiving performance the Chronicle has on record, by a wide margin. Whether it's a signature day or a preview of a new normal is a question for the next several weeks to answer.

From a reader doing the math: "Bryce Young threw 7 touchdowns and it wasn't even the record. What is the record, and who has it?"
Jenna: Eight, set by Joe Burrow. Young's seven ties him for the second-most in a single game the Chronicle has on record — good company, but not quite the top of the list. One more touchdown Sunday and the record board would have needed two new names on it instead of one.
From a reader watching the top of the standings: "Green Bay just blew out a 9-3 team by 24 points. Are the Packers actually the second-best team in the league now, ahead of everyone but Denver and Cincinnati?"
Jenna: On the evidence of Sunday, it's hard to argue otherwise. Washington is still a game ahead of Green Bay in the loss column, but the Packers just handed a good San Francisco team its most lopsided loss of the season. If Green Bay and Washington were to play again today, the Chronicle isn't sure it would pick the same team it picked last time.

League Poll

Results from last issue's poll are in: 3 votes, split evenly between Louis Geyer, Trevor Etienne and Travis Hunter — one apiece. Breece Hall, this issue's cover subject, got zero. Small sample, but a reminder that the Chronicle's cover picks and its readers' favorites don't always line up.

This week's poll:

Devin Rolle just broke two all-time records in one game. Which record on the books do you most want to see fall next?

  • Passing Yards — 594, still the longest-standing mark on the board
  • Passing TDs — 8, one shy after Bryce Young's 7-touchdown day
  • Jahmyr Gibbs breaking the single-season rushing record before the year is out
  • Something nobody's thinking about yet — this league keeps surprising us

Fourteen weeks down, four to go. Denver and Cincinnati are both still perfect, Green Bay just served notice that it belongs in the same conversation, and somewhere in Jacksonville, the record book got rewritten twice in the same afternoon by a player nobody was talking about a week ago.

Press Row is open, the mailbag runs with your name on it, and the poll is live — vote, and the Chronicle will see everybody back here after Week 15.

Until next week, the Chronicle stands with all 32.
